Maurice B. Shwayder Camp

Camp of Temple Emanuel

Building Project

ourcamp2

In 1949, the Shwayder family gave our community a sacred space nestles at 10,200 ft. Since then, Shwayder Camp has been a gift for future generations to enjoy.  Our camp has helped build the lives of thousands of individuals through personal growth, friendships, and inspiring an appreciation for the beauty and wonder of nature.  For more than 65 years, we have provided a place where Jewish values and traditions can grow.

The capital campaign includes adding a variety of new buildings throughout camp, including 8 new camper cabins, an indoor recreation center, an arts center, a new barn, a Director’s cabin, a staff-in-training cabin, and a state-of-the-art athletic field. These new updates provide exciting new opportunities to experience the Shwayder Magic that makes our camp so special. Although camp may look a little different, the same Shwayder Magic is here, just waiting for you. We are excited to share all of these new improvements with you and look forward to making every summer a summer to build your life on.

Shwayder Camp for Future Generations

Center of Camp

Our new Center of Camp will be an inviting outdoor space dedicated to bringing the Shwayder community together. This new centralized gathering space will make it easier than ever for us to come together and feel connected to the spirit of Shwayder.  Featured in the new Center of Camp will be pavilions built from reclaimed wood from the original Shwayder cabins.
