GETTING TO CAMP
We always start our first day at camp with a welcome celebration at Temple Emanuel in Denver. Plan to arrive at the temple at the Grape Street entrance on the first day of your camper’s session at based on the arrival time in the Parent Handbook which can be found in your CampMinder Account. As a reminder, all sessions begin on Tuesdays for the 2021 season. Campers will sign in, get a head tag (if you know you know) and meet their counselors and cabin mates.
Drop-off times are base on cabin groups, not last names, meaning that families with multiple campers could have different drop-off times. As a COVID-19 safety precaution, all luggage will be sprayed with an electrostatic sprayer before being loaded onto the moving truck. After depositing their luggage to be sprayed in the Grape Steet parking lot, campers proceed to the registration tables in the circular drive. Medical staff will be in a designated area for medication check-in and additional forms. All campers will receive a rapid COVID-19 test prior to departure. Shwayder memorabilia will be available for purchase by the registration tables. Camp staff will be available to help answer any questions. Buses will leave as soon as everyone has been checked in and has received a negative COVID-19 rapid test.
If your camper is flying into Denver International Airport, they must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Flights should be scheduled to arrive between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on a non-stop flight on the first day of their session. If this is not possible, you must obtain authorization from the Camp office prior to purchasing your ticket so special arrangements can be made. Lunch will be provided upon arrival. More details regarding air travel can be found in your Parent Handbook.
